one picture: pink print mixing

[image: hallie daily]

This image seemed to be all over my Pinterest feed this weekend and I absolutely adore the print mixing going on here, courtesy of personal style blogger Hallie Daily. Pattern blocking is such a refreshing styling trend, especially when tied together by a common color like the bubblegum pink palate here.

Stripes pair easily with most prints, even zany ones like on the top and clutch in this picture. Lately, I've been wearing my favorite striped tees with tropical and tribal patterned pants and loving the results.

Do you have a favorite print mixing combo? Tell me, tell me!

favorite collections: proenza schouler pre-fall '11

{$10 says taylor tomasi sports this look at fashion week next month}

If there's mixed tribal prints, count me in! Proenza Schouler's Pre-Fall 2011 collection crosses ikats with faire isles and tribal stripes with wish-washy tie-dyes, eliciting my most dazzling Teen Vogue editorial dreams. Also crossing seemingly clashing fabrics (silks, knits, tweed, jersey, etc), it's the iconic Proenza silhouette that pulls it all together: long and lean are almost always the key words.

{i say almost in reference to this look. long: def. lean: ehh..}

While the collection's stand-out looks consist of oversized blazers paired with to-the-knee silk pajama shorts, I must say I am partial to the dresses (as I usually am).

{j'adore this silhouette}

{this skirt wins my heart, and is also destined to be spotted on taylor come fw}

{thin-strap tank over cut-off tee = major styling inspiration}

{call me jewish, but i'm digging the frum-ability of this dress}

The moral of the story? Proenza: You. Can. Do. No. Wrong.

free people does paris

{free people january from freepeople on vimeo}

Exactly one year ago, I was settling into my temporary dream life that was a semester in Paris. How appropriate, then, that a year later Free People releases its January '11 catalogue shot dans ma ville favorite?

The catalogue's ethereal images feature (seemingly) effortlessly put-together girls frolicking the rues of the City of Light in lace, florals, frills and frocks. Blending Free People's signature boho-chic aesthetic and classic French flare, these spring looks are my dream come true.

Check out the video above for a montage of footage from the catalogue shoot. You can also digitally flip through the catalogue here.

One thing's for sure, though, I certainly wasn't sporting flowing tanks and short shorts in Paris last January.

Peace, Love and Neon,
Marisa
