la vie à paris: bonnes nouvelles de paris!!

Madames et Monsieurs: I am thrilled to announce that I have officially been offered the position of editorial intern for Women's Wear Daily in Paris!! From March 15th until May 6th, I will be working with the editorial team doing research, conducting interviews, translating stories and fact checking for the one and only hard newspaper of the fashion industry. As I have never had a journalism internship, I expect this internship to be a tremendous learning experience for me and will certainly make me a more well-rounded candidate for jobs following graduation. BU definitely hooked me up! I am still in shock that they were able to land me such a perfect internship over here. Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm so happy right now! If I weren't sitting in a computer lab full of people, I'd be jumping for joy!! :D

I'd also like to apologize for my semi-depressing post the other day. Just the typical pre-Valentine's Day blues, which have thankfully passed and have been replaced with excitement for my awesome internship!!

I spent most of the day yesterday (Valentine's Day) alone because all of my friends were busy with homework. Lame! Even so, I ended up having quite the lovely little day!

I figured that it would be best for me to do something that I preferred to do alone anyway, and hopped on the 4 all the way to Port de Clignancourt to scavenge through the world's largest flea market! I don't know whether or not I went to the right area, but I certainly found a mess of junk stands, antique shops, and kiosks selling ghetto-fab gear. I was mostly occupied with the vintage clothing alcoves and scored myself a pair of brown Italian leather flat boots with wool lining from a really cute sales-garçon that reminded me a bit of Russell Brand.

When decided that I had enough of searching through dusty racks and turning away from beautiful vintage Burberry trenches, I got back on the métro to the Place de la République to await the passing of the Paris Carnaval parade! It was so cute and colorful with lots of giant-sized puppets, international drum bands and little kids with painted faces. Snapped a ton of great photos!

{valentine's day sushi dinner with my boyfriend}

When the parade finished passing through the Place, I headed over to Bastille to meet up with Olivia for our romantic V-Day dinner at Planet Sushi and dessert at a local café. So, all in all, Valentine's Day was not as terrible as I anticipated it to be.

Oy- at school now and must get back to homework. Next adventure: Amsterdam this weekend and a special visit by some special friends (SHIRAN BENDOR AND SAM HENDEL!!).

À bientôt!

Paix, Amour et Néon,
Marisa
