I am so excited to share with you this little test I styled recently with some good friends from ideeli: photographer Larry Baglio, hair/makeup artist Mel Rau and model Luna Castilho. The stars seemed to align for our team one fateful (and tiring) day at the studio when we all agreed to stick around and take some photos for fun. Larry pulled down the red seamless, I threw together a look from the clothes I could find at the studio, Mel dirtied up Luna's hair and darkened her eyes, and Luna worked her magic.
The concept was pretty rock'n'roll inspired. In my mind, Luna was the sexy groupie of every rock star's dreams. I loved the idea of playing up her gorgeous, flowing locks and sultry, deep-set eyes with the contrast of an ethereal white lace dress and a tough black moto jacket. I've come to realize that adding jewelry to a look is my favorite part, so piling on the silver was a must. I am also a huge fan of turquoise and red, so once the paper was selected, it was on with that cross bracelet.
Okay, so this probably goes down as a record for the longest time that I've gone without blogging--but it's for good reason, I think.
I posted my last entry on my first day interning at Ralph Lauren Collection and have been running around like a crazy person ever since, between moving back to Boston to start my senior year at BU, getting settled at school, Buzz meetings galore, celebrating the High Holidays and running back to New York in time for Fashion Week.
So it's pretty fitting that I am posting my first entry since my first day at Ralph on my last day: THE SHOW!!
I can't get into details about working during Looks Week, the fitting and backstage at the show, but I can talk about what's already been posted online! Like.....

It was incredible to see the entire show come together to flawlessly the way it did and the collection surpassed my expectations it its beauty. I feel so fortunate to have had the experience that I did at Ralph Lauren this summer and greatly appreciate my opportunity to come back to help with the show.
Meanwhile, today very well might have been my last day ever as an intern. Next up: a real, paying job in fashion?! Could it be true?!
Guess you'll have to stay tuned to see what happens come May!! (Oh boy, freaking out again...)
I was just watching The September Issue in bed and needed to post these images of model Raquel Zimmerman chowing down on a fruit tart while wearing couture on a Vogue shoot. Loves.
Doing fashiony things makes my life. I guess this is why I ultimately chose to study in Paris, and let me say, it's definitely starting to have its perks!
As some of you know, it is currently Haute Couture fashion week here in Frenchy-Frenchville, and fortunately for me, I found the show schedule complete with addresses online! Although most of the shows were during class hours, I was able to make it to one tonight. Which show, you ask? Ummmmm... Valentino Couture! YES PLEASE! No I didn't manage to sneak inside, but I was able to stand right outside the entrance with the photographers and other fashion dorks and watch the show-goers and models walk by!! As soon as I got there, I heard some girls speaking English and instantly made friends with Sylvia, Juliana and Sarah, who had all met each other that week while standing outside every couture show they could find. It was so freezing outside, to the point that I could not feel my feet one bit, but we sucked it up and held out our cameras to take pictures of every Vogue editor, model, and pretty young thing that we could spot. While I wasn't quick enough to shoot Anna, who walked right by us into the backstage entrance, or Hamish Bowles, I did get a stunning photo of NATALIA VODIANOVA! I also snapped Chanel Iman and others walking from makeup to the dressing room, and I found Jak & Jil / Style.com photog Tommy Ton!!

Amazing. So worth nearly getting frostbite.
To thaw off, the four of us ducked into a tiny bakery for cake (fresh rasberry, creme and meringue!) and chocolat chaud (hot cocoa) and discussed the week's shows, Target diffusion lines and our love of Sex & the City. Yay new fashion friends! Hopefully we'll all meet up again to lurk outside the Prêt-à-Porter (Ready-to-Wear) shows in March!!
This week also consisted of a couple excellent field trips for my art history and oral French classes.
Today we went to the Musée d'Orsay, Paris' museum of mostly French impressionist and post-impressionist works and is housed in a former train station. If you've never been, I definitely recommend it! The building is really impressive and really does feel like a train station with its ornate rounded ceiling and huge gold wall clock. We saw tons of great works by Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Matisse, Cézanne and more, many of which we studied in class. I'm so thrilled to finally take an art history class and fully understand the importance of all these canvases covered in paint.
Last night, we went to the movie theater to see the new film about famed French singer Serge Gainsbourg. It was visually stunning, filled with elements of magic realism and fantasy, and had lots of 60s fashion (my fave!) worn by the characters of Bridgette Bardot and Jane Birkin. I would definitely love to see the movie again with English subtitles, as I probably only understood about 30% of what they were saying.
Alright mes cheries, I gotta dash. Leaving for London straight after class tomorrow and have to finish packing!! (Not to mention do my grammar homework and shower!) Fabulous English updates when I return!!

That being said, as I hunted down photos of her on Google, I stumbled upon this slideshow of some famous gap-tooth babes!! Truly a pleasant surprise because it is so spot-on and hysterical. Be sure to read the comment under each photo.
Gap-teeth really are charming, aren't they? Maybe GJ's impending career boom will inspire some gap-tooth chickies out there to spare the braces. Yes please!

No joke. Just spotted (and introduced myself to) Vlada Roslyakova strutting down East 61st St!!!!! Totally freaked her out but I think I'm more freaked out than she was. Didn't take a pic though-- still too chicken to take it that far. I honestly have the worst luck with celeb spottings-- how in hell did I manage to spot TWO major models in the span of 15 minutes????? Oh it's good to be home in the city!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone in the fashion world has been waiting for last night's event since the Met announced the Model as Muse exhibit last winter. If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with models, so I was thrilled to hear this news and even more thrilled to read the May issue of Vogue and even MORE thrilled to finish my Media Law exam this morning (thank todd) and head to my computer to look at photos from last night! Needless to say, my faves did not disappoint.
